Richard McLaughlin
Richard has been teaching Iyengar Yoga for over 13 years. He began his studies in Los Angeles, taking classes at the Iyengar Yoga Institute of Los Angeles (IYILA). His early teachers were Karin O'Bannon and Gloria Goldberg. He took his Iyengar teacher training course at IYILA in the 1990's under the direction of his main teacher, Manouso Manos. He is currently certified in the Iyengar system at the Junior Intermediate ll level.
He has travelled several times to India to study with B.K.S. Iyengar, Geeta Iyengar and Prashant Iyengar. He travels as often as possible to work with Manouso Manos who continues to inspire him. Richard has a large group of dedicated and loyal students; his dynamic and passionate teaching style attracts people of all ages and abilities! His daily asana and Pranayama practices are the constant source of his teaching as he continues to share what he learns with his students.
Vanessa Bacher
Geeta Iyengar and Vanessa Bacher; Pune, India, 2014 Vanessa Bacher has recently returned from her fourth trip to India where she continued to expand her yoga practice and studies in Pune at the RIMYI [Ramamani Iyengar Memorial Yoga Institute]. A student of Iyengar Yoga for the past 13 years, Vanessa has trained extensively at the base of the Himalayas with Rajiv and Swati Chanchani. as well as studying with many Senior teachers worldwide. She recently completed the 3-year Iyengar Teacher Training in Los Angeles with Gloria Goldberg, Marla Apt and Diane Gyspers, and she continues to study with Richard McLaughlin at IYSSB.
Vanessa’s intent is to uphold the rich lineage of B.K.S Iyengar, sharing his legacy through his valuable teachings. She provides a keen sense of detail to each yoga pose, using her knowledge of the healing powers of yoga to address all kinds of ailments, organic and structural., In Vanessa’s classes students can begin to build a solid foundation in yoga, and learn restorative ways of practice.
Eric Small
Eric Small Born in Avalon, Catalina Island, Eric Small was diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis at the age of 22, and soon became a serious student of Iyengar yoga. He found that yoga helped him manage his MS symptoms and get on with his life. Today he is in his 80s and a certified Iyengar teacher at the Senior Intermediate Level ll level. He has been teaching Iyengar Yoga since the mid-1960’s, and has travelled to Pune, India, numerous times to study with BKS Iyengar. In fact it was at the suggestion of BKS Iyengar that he began to teach patients living with MS. He frequently travels throughout the US conducting Yoga workshops and seminars for both MS and non-MS students, and is one of the assessors for the Iyengar Teacher Training Program. He is the author of Yoga and Multiple Sclerosis: A Journey to Health and Healing, and, with the support of the Southern California chapter of the MS Society the Adaptive Yoga Program became part of a regular MS program offered at UCLA.
